Keep soil moisture even rather than swinging between drought and soaking, since consistent watering keeps the plant from diverting energy into stress responses. Finally, encourage pollinator activity and airflow around plants, whether that means siting them somewhere with a bit of natural breeze, spacing them so air moves between plants, or simply giving clusters a manual shake a few times a week as backup. None of these fixes will overcome a genuine heat or cold snap, but together they shrink the window in which the plant is vulnerable.
